About the IMC

What is the IMC

The International Myopia Conference (IMC) is the world’s leading forum devoted exclusively to myopia. Since its founding in 1964, IMC has evolved from a small gathering of vision scientists into a global meeting place for researchers, clinicians, educators, and industry leaders. Its mission is clear: to accelerate discovery, improve clinical care, and advance public health strategies worldwide.

Now in its 20th meeting, IMC convenes at a pivotal moment. With the prevalence of myopia rising to unprecedented levels across the globe, the need for coordinated scientific, clinical, and policy action has never been greater.

IMC 2027 will provide a dynamic platform to:

  • Share the latest advances in basic, translational, and clinical science

  • Showcase innovative technologies shaping the future of myopia control

  • Foster cross-disciplinary and international collaborations

  • Engage stakeholders in research, education, healthcare, and public health

The 19th IMC, held in China, drew nearly 1,000 participants from across the world. We anticipate a similarly vibrant and diverse community in Houston, Texas—an international city known for its innovation, diversity, and hospitality.

The organizing committee is committed to creating an inclusive, interactive experience where participants can connect, exchange ideas, and shape the next era of myopia research and care.
